Cheating boyfriends send your emotions running wild. When asked, sometimes even you are not quite sure how you feel. Of course you are angry, and obviously you feel hurt and betrayed. Beyond that, do you know how you feel?The most common reaction to our husband or boyfriend cheating on us is to be outwardly angry and overly defensive. You want to give him hell because that’s what you feel inside. The second most common reaction is often overlooked, but much more powerful than the first: insecurity. We tend to search for reasons within ourselves, our personality traits or our physical appearance, to find flaws which justify our husbands’ cheating. We beat ourselves up, second guess our choices, the quality of ourselves as individual women and underestimate our ability to be loved or appreciated by someone else.
Do not be insecure because of someone else’s mistake. His affair was not your fault. His infidelity doesn’t even mean that he doesn’t think you are beautiful or sexy anymore. In fact, when men cheat, it is usually as a result of their insecurities.
If you are having trouble coping with the fallout of your man’s mistake, seek some type of professional help, such as a licensed counselor or therapist, especially important if you desire to save your relationship. A counselor or therapist is not just something for “crazy people” but a mediation tool proven to be effective for struggling couples who are working to let go of their baggage.
It is important to remember that you are an entire person. Your identity is not dependant on the fidelity of your husband or cheating boyfriend. Get yourself get right emotionally first, then think of working out issues in your relationship.
